Core Web Vitals, explained for store owners

The CIQRA teamJul 7, 20264 min read

Google measures how your pages feel to real users with three Core Web Vitals. They affect both search ranking and, more importantly, whether a shopper sticks around to buy.

The three metrics

  • LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) — how quickly the main content appears. Aim for under 2.5 seconds.
  • INP (Interaction to Next Paint) — how snappily the page responds when tapped. Aim for under 200 ms.
  • CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — how much the page jumps around as it loads. Aim for under 0.1.

Why they matter

A slow or jumpy page loses sales before a shopper ever sees your product. Fast, stable pages convert better — full stop.

The right foundations — server rendering, a modern image pipeline, and reserving space for media — deliver good vitals without you thinking about it. CIQRA's storefront is built this way by default; see Storefront.
